We are planning to create a prototype which can be applied to used vehicles as well, and by its implementation it can trigger driver free speed limitation in zones designated by the organisations responsible for the management of a smart city’s traffic, by limiting the maximum speed of vehicles in predesignated areas considered as vulnerable traffic hotspots, such as residential areas, road sections with high accident statistics, or around public institutions, as well. The system is planned to be made of a signal beacon unit to be implemented in a speed limtied zone, and a receiver, which is to be fit in retrospectively into used vehicles having a CAN bus system or other onboard ECU management solutions.
