Another grant awarded by the state is given to a certain number of Tennessee residents. Academic scholarships are also awarded to cover partial tuition costs. The minimum grade point average needed to get a scholarship is between 3.0 and 3.7, depending on the award. Many students use a combination of these awards to cover the portion of tuition they cannot afford.
