Nippon Life Insurance Company, part of the Nissay Group, is the second largest life insurance company in Japan. In addition to its life insurance products, the company provides asset management services and administers pension plans and medical coverage plans. Through its affiliates and subsidiaries, Nippon also sells auto and other property/casualty insurance in Japan, and has some international life insurance operations, as well as select real estate and financial service assets. Nissay Asset Management oversees all investments in Asia Pacific, NLI International specialises in US investments and NLI International PLC covers the European portfolio. The company changed its name from Nippon Life Assurance in 1947.
