Eltechs

Grant in 2012
Eltechs develops a virtualization software solution that makes standard PC software (Intel) compatible with a new type of energy efficient ARM-based servers. The company is operating for the emerging market of mircoserver hardware. This market is rocketing due to the demands of data centers. According to the research firm IHS iSuppli shipments of microservers will be 291,000 units in 2013. According to the forecast shipments of microservers will reach 1.2M units in 2016, which is more than 10% of server hardware market or about $4.5B. This type of servers (ARM-based) is able to cut costs of data centers and cloud providers by up to 80%! However, ARM-based servers can be applied to a limited number of cases due to lack of software. Standard PC’s (aka Intel) architecture is incompatible with the power-efficient ARM one. However, the vast majority of software developed during a few last decades, is only applicable for the PC platform and, hence, is not available on power-efficient ARM servers. Approximately 80% of previously developed software is not applicable for ARM. Eltechs develops software virtualization solution that makes non-applicable standard PC software applicable for power efficient ARM servers. Thus with our solution it is possible to use vast majority of existing and proven software and at the same time decrease total cost of ownership with help of power-efficient ARM servers.
