Team Selenokhod (Russian: Селеноход) is a privately funded Russian team of aerospace experts led by Nikolay Dzis-Voynarovskiy. It was the first Russian team to enter the Google Lunar X Prize competition. The team's name is derived from Lunokhod, the Soviet space program that sent two remote-controlled rovers to the moon, which became the first ever rovers to traverse the moon's surface. The team initially began work in October 2007, composed of nearly ten experienced engineers and managers. The team's vehicles are two rovers and a lander with a communications system on-board. Both 5 kg rovers contain four independent wheels, an HD camera, a solar panel, rechargeable batteries and a low-gain, omni-directional antenna.

On December 14, 2010, the Russian Innovation Hub Skolkovo announced the selection of its first 16 resident projects. Certificate No. 13 was awarded to the project "International Center for Quantum Optics and Quantum Technologies" - the Russian Quantum Center (RQC). This day can be considered the official birthday of the RQC. The Russian Quantum Center will conduct scientific research that could lead to a fundamentally new class of technologies in the near future. Among the potential results of this research are safe data transmission networks, new materials with superior properties, optical sub-micron transistors, high-frequency optical electronics, new systems for ultrasensitive imaging of the brain and accurate clocks for navigation systems. The Center will bring together about a dozen research groups, totaling about one hundred scientists of both Russian and international origin. Our vision is an institute that will be able to integrate itself into the international scientific community and take on a leading position in quantum science and technologies, both in Russia and internationally.
Eltechs develops a virtualization software solution that makes standard PC software (Intel) compatible with a new type of energy efficient ARM-based servers.
The company is operating for the emerging market of mircoserver hardware. This market is rocketing due to the demands of data centers. According to the research firm IHS iSuppli shipments of microservers will be 291,000 units in 2013. According to the forecast shipments of microservers will reach 1.2M units in 2016, which is more than 10% of server hardware market or about $4.5B.
This type of servers (ARM-based) is able to cut costs of data centers and cloud providers by up to 80%!
However, ARM-based servers can be applied to a limited number of cases due to lack of software. Standard PC’s (aka Intel) architecture is incompatible with the power-efficient ARM one. However, the vast majority of software developed during a few last decades, is only applicable for the PC platform and, hence, is not available on power-efficient ARM servers. Approximately 80% of previously developed software is not applicable for ARM.
Eltechs develops software virtualization solution that makes non-applicable standard PC software applicable for power efficient ARM servers. Thus with our solution it is possible to use vast majority of existing and proven software and at the same time decrease total cost of ownership with help of power-efficient ARM servers.
