Alantra Private Equity is a private equity arm of Alantra Partners S.A., specializing in investments in substitution capital including management buy-out, management buy-in, leveraged buyouts, expansion capital, and spinoffs; build-up investments; add-on acquisitions; and development capital transactions in the middle market. It does not invest in financial institutions and real estate. It invests in fragmented sectors and those in process of consolidation. The firm prefers to invest in leading and market niches including consumer discretionary, consumer staples, energy, healthcare, industrials, information technology, media, materials, telecommunication services, utilities, services, packaging, manufacturing, food and beverage, business services, consumer goods and services with a focus on hotels, restaurants, and leisure, retailing, and infrastructure. It also invests in middle market Spanish and Portuguese markets and Iberian companies. The firm seeks to invest between €10 million ($13.11 million) and €85 million ($109.72 million). The firm may also consider lesser investments in case of add-on acquisitions. It invests in companies with enterprise value between €100 million (129.08 million) and €500 million ($645.43 million) and EBITDA between €7 million ($8.55 million) and €40 million ($48.89 million). The firm makes majority investments or investments with a controlled minority. The firm primarily holds its investment for four to six years. Alantra Private Equity was founded in 1985 and is based in Madrid, Spain with additional offices in Vienna, Austria; Bogotá, Colombia; São Paulo, Brazil; Miguel Hidalgo, Mexico; and Zurich, Switzerland.
