The Innovation Space
The Innovation Space is a not-for-profit innovation ecosystem and one of the largest incubators and accelerators for startups in the physical sciences, located on the historic Experimental Station campus in Wilmington, Delaware. Established in 2017 through a partnership between DuPont, the University of Delaware, and the State of Delaware, it offers 130,000 square feet of modern lab and office space, equipped with advanced scientific resources and an experienced support team. Innovation Space aims to transform science-driven startups into successful ventures, fostering scientific entrepreneurship and addressing critical global challenges. Its virtual programs, Spark Factory and Science Inc., connect scientists, business leaders, and investors, facilitating the commercialization of innovative solutions. Since its inception, Innovation Space has supported over 100 startups, contributing to the creation or retention of more than 700 jobs and generating over $900 million in investment funding. This initiative not only enhances Delaware's status in science and technology but also drives economic development and job creation, with a focus on sectors such as healthcare, advanced materials, and renewable energy.
