Musical.Ly

Musical.ly, established in 2014 by Alex Zhu and Luyu Yang, is a video social network platform that facilitates the creation, sharing, and discovery of short videos, primarily among teenage users. The app, which was popular for its 15-second video format, encouraged users to express themselves through singing, dancing, comedy, and lip-syncing. It gained significant traction, reaching the top spot in the iOS App Store in multiple countries, including the U.S. In 2017, Musical.ly was acquired by ByteDance, and in 2018, it was merged into ByteDance's subsidiary, TikTok.
