American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals

The American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) is a non-profit organization based in New York City, founded in 1866 by Henry Bergh. It is dedicated to preventing cruelty to animals and was the first humane organization to be granted legal authority to investigate and make arrests for crimes against animals. The ASPCA focuses on three primary areas: supporting pet parents and their pets, ensuring positive outcomes for at-risk animals, and assisting victims of animal cruelty. Through its nonviolent approaches, the organization aims to fulfill its mission of promoting animal welfare across the United States.
