Baylor College of Medicine (BCM) in Houston, Texas, is a highly respected, high-ranking medical school that offers comprehensive, quality medical education programs. BCM has a medical school that educates future physicians. They also house an allied health division, which provides training in: * Nurse anesthesia * Physician assisting * Prosthetics and orthotics BCM’s medical education programs give students the chance to work in one of more than eight teaching hospitals. Medical students also begin working with patients as soon as a few weeks into their program. Baylor College of Medicine also has a graduate research division, which was ranked as one of the top in the United States by U.S. News and World Report. Graduates of BCM are proof of its excellence. They have consistently developed strong careers as practicing doctors, medical school chairs, medical researchers and executives of pharmaceutical companies. BCM also has an innovative program for exceptional high school students who wish to enter the eight-year medical school program. Admissions requirements are different for each program. Admission to most programs is in three phases, with the applicant-pool narrowed down over the course of each phase. Admissions requirements generally include test scores, GPA and courses taken. Financial aid is available through federal grants and loans. Students are also encouraged to seek out scholarships, grants and loans from medical and healthcare agencies and organizations.

Paul Quinn College is an HBCU. Paul Quinn offers a select number of four-year liberal arts programs, making for a closely-knit, intimate experience. The programs at Paul Quinn are all within the fields of business, legal studies, science and technology. Adding to the welcoming feel of Paul Quinn’s campus life are the residential facilities where students may choose to live. In 2011 Paul Quinn won the HBCU of the Year Award from HBCU Digest. This is, in great part, because of its mission of service, which can be seen on the Paul Quinn Campus. The Farm is a great example of Paul Quinn’s commitment helping not only its students, but local and global communities as well. The Farm is a place where students grow organic produce to help local impoverished communities. The Writer’s Hub is another example of both the intimacy and the service-based approach offered at Paul Quinn. The Writer’s Hub is a place where students of all writing backgrounds may receive individual and collaborative instruction in everything from letter-writing to creative works to drafts of essays. Scholarships, work-study, loans and other internal and external sources provide eligible students with financial assistance to fund tuition and other educational expenses.

The American Red Cross (ARC), also known as the American National Red Cross, is a humanitarian organization that provides emergency assistance, disaster relief, and education inside the United States. It is the largest single supplier of blood and blood products in the United States, collecting and processing approximately 40 percent of the blood supply and distributing it to about 2,600 hospitals and transfusion centers nationwide. The American Red Cross was established in 1881 and is headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia with 39 immunohematology reference laboratories nationwide.
