CARESTAR Foundation

Established in 2017, the CARESTAR Foundation is a relatively new entrant into the emergency and trauma care community. We remain focused on changing a challenging picture: In California, there is a disparate array of entities that work in emergency and trauma care – yet they are not designed to work together. This discrepancy can create serious gaps in the care pathway for trauma and emergency patients, who may experience delays or disconnects on their way through treatment and recovery. The CARESTAR Foundation focuses grantmaking on programs that connect, coordinate, and create partnerships between the groups that care for trauma and emergency patients. We fund a range of ideas and initiatives – including programs that train bystanders to “stop the bleed” at an accident scene, software that helps paramedics gain better electronic communication with hospitals and relationships between trauma centers and not-profit organizations that are designed to help victims of trauma stay safe from re-injury.
