Ledgers

Venture Round in 2000
Ledgers was conceptualized by a team of Professional Accountants from Sydney Nova Scotia in 1994 when the need for consistent, professional and affordable accounting services was recognized. After a preliminary investigation, it was realized that the small business market could not afford the services available from CPA’s and the larger firms, while the services from the local ‘bookkeeper’ were not adequate. With this in mind, the team spent the next 2 years developing the Ledgers Model. In April 1997, the first Franchise was awarded to Terry Bachmann of Moncton NB; Terry was instrumental in developing the marketing models, standards and procedures they still use today, and Terry is still a proud member of the Ledgers Network. In November of 2000 Ledgers was acquired by Gordon Haslam and moved to the current location in Newmarket, ON. Over this period of time, their corporate offices have expanded from an initial 600 square feet to just under the 6,000 square feet they occupy today. They have evolved from the original concept of 'bookkeepers' with higher standards, support and training, to a business model that exemplifies a 'one-stop' destination for all of the financial needs of small business.
