Sølvtrans is the largest wellboat company globally, focusing on the transportation of live salmon and trout. Established in 1986 and headquartered in Ålesund, Norway, the company leads in employing closed system technology, which enhances animal welfare and biosecurity while reducing the risk of infection. This environmentally friendly approach allows for cost-effective transportation and handling of fish. Sølvtrans operates a fleet of 16 modern wellboats, primarily engaged in long-term contracts with prominent fish-farming companies in Norway, Scotland, Canada, and Australia. Additionally, the company holds a 48 percent stake in Sølvtrans Chile SA, which operates five wellboats in Chile, with its local office situated in Puerto Montt. The company is managed by Viktor Vargas.
