It also invests in pharmaceuticals, complimentary medicines, health and beauty, materials, medical equipment and devices, agro-chemicals, garden chemicals, animal health, metals, household equipment, body care products, foodstuffs, beverages, timber tracts, human resource and employment services, retailing, beverages, insurance, property, and information technology. It invest in those brands and companies that have high levels of intellectual property. It prefers to invest in local businesses. The firm typically invests in Poland, Central and Eastern Europe, Czech Republic, Slovakia Australia, New Zeland, and South Africa (Cape Town, Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal), Africa, and International. It invests between ZAR50 million (USD5 million) and $200 million, sales value less than R200 million ($14.75 million), enterprise value between ZAR50 million and $200 million, and minimum annual profit of more than R50 million ($3.69 million) and a track record of over 10 years. The firm invests in companies with an operating profit margin greater than 15 percent and a track record of over ten years. The firm prefers to take a semi active ownership role in its portfolio of companies. It seeks to acquire at least 80 percent in its portfolio companies with management retaining the balance. The firm invests through its own balance sheet. It seeks to take stakes between 70% and 100% and has an average holding period of five years.
