CERN

CERN, located in Geneva, Switzerland, is a prominent particle-physics laboratory established in 1954. It serves as the European organization for nuclear research, where physicists and engineers investigate the fundamental structure of the universe. CERN operates the world's largest and most complex scientific instruments, primarily particle accelerators and detectors, to explore the basic constituents of matter. These accelerators propel beams of particles to high energies, facilitating collisions that are then analyzed by detectors to yield insights into fundamental particles and their interactions. As a collaborative effort among 22 member states, CERN plays a crucial role in advancing high-energy physics research and fostering international scientific cooperation.
