United Negro College Fund

The United Negro College Fund (UNCF) is the largest minority education organization in the United States, dedicated to supporting African American students in their pursuit of higher education. Each year, UNCF enables over 60,000 students to attend college by awarding approximately 10,000 scholarships and internships through a vast array of programs aimed at those from low- and moderate-income families. The organization also provides essential financial support to its 37 member historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) to enhance scholarships and institutional capacity. Additionally, UNCF actively advocates for educational equity and college readiness through national media campaigns and local events, emphasizing the importance of education. Founded in 1944 and headquartered in Washington, D.C., UNCF manages an endowment fund to further its mission of ensuring that African American students can attend and graduate from college.
