Mercy Corps is an international development organization founded in 1979 and headquartered in Portland, Oregon. Its mission is to help individuals and communities around the world survive and thrive in the aftermath of conflict, crisis, and natural disasters. The organization focuses on alleviating suffering, poverty, and oppression by fostering secure, productive, and just communities. Mercy Corps provides a range of services, including emergency relief, agricultural and economic development, housing and infrastructure support, and nonviolent conflict management. Over the years, it has responded to numerous global emergencies and has delivered approximately $3.7 billion in lifesaving assistance. Each year, Mercy Corps invests millions into local economies through small business loans and grants, assisting the most vulnerable populations in establishing livelihoods. Additionally, the organization empowers over 100,000 youth affected by violent conflict, helping them to navigate the trauma of war and become agents of change in their communities.
