Nicholson Foundation
The Nicholson Foundation was an independent family foundation based in Newark, New Jersey, established in 1980 by William B. Nicholson and Marion G. Nicholson. Its mission focused on improving the lives of children and families in New Jersey, particularly in underserved urban communities, by addressing inter-generational poverty, strengthening fragile families, and enhancing opportunities. The foundation sought to transform health and human service delivery systems through partnerships with policymakers, stakeholders, and local service providers. By emphasizing systemic reform, it aimed to create sustainable changes that would benefit vulnerable populations across the state. The foundation officially closed its operations on December 31, 2021.
