HarbourVest Horizon
HarbourVest Horizon, formerly known as BAML Capital Access Funds Management, LLC, is a private investment firm specializing in direct and fund-of-funds investments. The firm typically invests in venture capital, growth capital, mezzanine and buyout. The mezzanine funds that firm invests in are SBICs (Small Business Investment Company). It focuses on underserved markets. It also invests in funds targeting companies owned or managed by or targeted to women, ethnic minorities, and female or minority general partners; companies located in, or employing residents of low and moderate income areas; and is focused on deploying capital to funds and companies located in urban or rural areas with limited access to investment capital. It targets new general partners, primarily first, second or third time funds. The firm generally invests in outsourced business services, media and entertainment, consumer products and retail, manufacturing and distribution, technology and telecom, business and financial services, and healthcare. It prefers to invest in the United States. The firm seeks to invest up to 20 percent of the total private capital that has been raised, or between $5 million and $25 million in a transaction. It typically invests between $10 million to $15 million in SBIC’s. It avoids funds with less than $50 million in total private capital. It focuses on making investments in private equity funds with capitalizations of $500 million or less in the U.S. lower-middle-market. It also provides advisory services. HarbourVest Horizon was founded in 1997 and is based in Chicago, Illinois with additional offices in Los Angeles, California; New York, New York; St. Louis, Missouri; and Washington, District of Columbia. It operates as a subsidiary of HarbourVest Partners, LLC.
