Petróleos Mexicanos, commonly known as Pemex, is a state-owned petroleum company in Mexico established in 1938 through the nationalization of the oil industry. It is the largest enterprise and taxpayer in Mexico, as well as one of the biggest companies in Latin America. Pemex manages the entire value chain of the oil industry, from exploration to distribution and commercialization of end products, including petrochemicals. The company operates refineries, petrochemical complexes, and gas processing facilities, producing millions of barrels of oil daily and over 6 million cubic feet of natural gas. Recent years have seen stable crude oil production and significant discoveries in deepwater basins, confirming the petroleum potential in areas like the Gulf of Mexico.
