Microstaq

The company recently launched at the DemoFall conference, on September 10, 2008. Microstaq's silicon chips are designed to replace the complex metal solenoids and valves that control the flow of refrigerants in air conditioning units. Since they don't have moving parts that use energy and give off heat during operation, the chips can operate 25 to 30 percent more efficiently than traditional valves. On September 22nd, Mirostaq announce a $12.5 million Series B round of investment. Funding was led by Good Energies, with follow-on investments from existing investors Yaletown Venture Partners and Polygon Group.
