bm-t beteiligungsmanagement thüringen gmbh is the private equity and venture capital arm of Thüringer Aufbaubank specializing in early stage companies, start-ups, mid venture, late venture, mature, later stage, bridge, IPO, expansion, growth capital, and management buy-outs and buy-ins, and mezzanine investments. The firm invests in young as well as already established companies. It does not provide seed financing and does not invest in the real estate, construction, building sector, agriculture, small trade and handicrafts. It considers investments in all industry sectors with a focus on optoelectronics, microelectronics, life science, new media, green tech, information technology, manufacturing, media, materials, automation, material science, security, machine building, metal processing, electrical engineering, internet and the German mittelstand. The firm also invests in small to medium-sized businesses in the mechanical and automation engineering, automotive suppliers, information technology, advanced materials, materials application technology, biotechnology, and chemicals sectors. It seeks to invest in companies which are headquartered or have at least substantial activities based in the State of Thuringia and incorporated German companies. Within equity participation, it seeks to invest between €0.1 million ($0.11 million) and €10 million ($11.64 million) and within silent partnership, it seeks to invest between €0.1 million ($0.11 million) and €5 million ($5.82 million). The firm also provides mezzanine financing as well as consulting services for seed stage companies. With respect to later stage financing, it invests in mezzanine and equity between €1 million ($1.16 million) and €5 million ($5.82 million) in companies with turnovers exceeding €5 million ($5.82 million) for less than five years. The firm provides mezzanine financing between €0.1 million ($0.11 million) and €1 million ($1.16 million) in early stage. It prefers to take minority as well as majority stakes in companies. Furthermore, it only invests in companies in the legal form of a joint stock company and it prefers to take a seat on the advisory or supervisory board of the portfolio companies.
