Harpoon Medical, Inc. is a medical device company based in Baltimore, Maryland, focused on developing and commercializing innovative transcatheter devices for patients with mitral valve disease. Founded in 2013, the company specializes in a minimally invasive, image-guided surgical tool designed for beating heart mitral valve repair. This technology allows surgeons to access and repair the mitral valve through a small incision between the ribs, eliminating the need for cardiac arrest or cardiopulmonary bypass. The Harpoon device inserts "bulky knot" neochords into the valve leaflets, effectively addressing mitral valve regurgitation.
