Uniti Fiber is a real estate investment trust (REIT) that specializes in the acquisition and construction of essential communications infrastructure, including fiber networks, wireless towers, and ground leases. With approximately 140,000 route miles of fiber, primarily located in the Southeast, Uniti Fiber focuses on leasing fiber to enterprise customers. The company has a significant partnership with Windstream, which is its largest customer, providing a substantial portion of its revenue. Uniti is in the process of merging with Windstream, a move that will transition it away from its REIT status and expand its operations to include consumer telecommunications services. Once the merger is complete, the combined entity will own 217,000 route miles of fiber, serving 4.3 million households and 150,000 commercial buildings, predominantly in less densely populated areas. This merger will enable Uniti Fiber to enhance its offerings while maintaining its commitment to supporting critical communications infrastructure for businesses and communities.
