CHF Solutions
CHF Solutions, Inc. is a medical device company specializing in ultrafiltration therapy for patients with fluid overload, particularly those who have not responded to diuretic treatments. Its primary product, the Aquadex FlexFlow System, is designed for temporary and extended ultrafiltration treatment and consists of a console, disposable blood set, and catheter. The company markets its products to hospitals and clinics through a direct sales force in the United States and through independent specialty distributors in various countries, including the United Kingdom, Italy, and Brazil. In addition to its ultrafiltration devices, CHF Solutions is also known for its C-Pulse Heart Assist System, which offers a minimally invasive approach to assist patients with Class III and ambulatory Class IV heart failure. This system utilizes balloon counter-pulsation technology to improve blood flow and reduce the heart's workload, potentially enhancing patients' quality of life by alleviating symptoms like shortness of breath and increasing physical activity. Founded in 1999 and headquartered in Eden Prairie, Minnesota, the company was previously known as Sunshine Heart, Inc. before rebranding in 2017.

Aquapheresis therapy, delivered by the Aquadex FlexFlow system, uses a simplified approach to ultrafiltration for the removal of salt and water in patients with Hypervolemia, or fluid overload. Compared to renal replacement devices used for ultrafiltration, the Aquadex FlexFlow system is smaller and more portable. By removing excess salt and water in a safe, predictable, and effective manner, the Aquadex FlexFlow is intended to improve symptoms and clinical outcomes and enables the focus to be on treating the underlying clinical condition, whatever it may be. Physicians can specify and adjust the exact amount and rate of fluid to be removed from each patient, resulting in a gradual reduction that has been shown to have no significant clinical impact on blood pressure, heart rate, or the balance of electrolytes (e.g. sodium, potassium, etc.) in the body.
