London Pensions Fund Authority
The London Pensions Fund Authority (LPFA) is a public pension fund based in London, established in 1989. It administers a pension fund valued at £4.63 billion, providing Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS) benefits to nearly 20,000 employees from 370 employers, including those in the charity, not-for-profit, private sector, and local government. The LPFA also supports around 40,000 pensioners, many of whom are former employees of the Greater London Council and the Inner London Education Authority. In addition to managing its own fund, the LPFA offers a wide range of pension services, including full administration, pensions payroll, staff placement, data cleansing, and benefit statements. It also operates a national training program for LGPS, serving the pension benefits of approximately 250,000 individuals. The governance of the fund's assets is overseen by a board of directors.
