VTB Capital, Private Equity and Special Situations is a private equity arm of VTB Capital plc, specializing in buyouts, mature and emerging growth investments. The firm seeks to invest in infrastructure and real estate. It seeks to invest in consumer driven industries, health, finance, TMT, media, transportation, food retail and business segments. It seeks to invest in Russia and other CIS countries. It primarily would invest minimum of 60 per cent and a maximum of 80 per cent in Russia and will invest a minimum of 20 per cent and a maximum of 30 per in Kazakhstan. The investments into other CIS countries will be less than 15 per cent and will be limited to pre-IPO minority stakes in vertically integrated agricultural enterprises. It typically invests between $25 million and $75 million in companies with turnover between $50 million and $500 million. The firm always co-invests and takes controlling or significant minority stakes in portfolio companies. It exits through public listings or trade sales, normally over a period of three to five years.
