Ingenza, established in 2002, specializes in industrial biotechnology and synthetic biology. The company, spun out from the University of Edinburgh, focuses on improving yields of unnatural amino acids and amines through microbial production technology modification and commercialization. Ingenza offers efficient, scalable bioprocesses for manufacturing chemicals, biologics, pharmaceuticals, and biofuels from sustainable sources. Its team of experts in molecular biology, gene expression, directed evolution, fermentation, and process development work together to provide innovative solutions for diverse client needs.
Gaia-Wind is a specialist designer and manufacturer of small wind turbines. Originally a Danish company established in 1993, its global headquarters are now located in Glasgow, Scotland, from where it manufactures and distribute its turbines worldwide. Its 133-11kW turbine benefits from more than 20 years of Danish design experience, and Gaia-Wind continues to invest in its research and development. Over 500 of its wind turbines have been installed worldwide with a combined operational history of more than 1500 years.
Equine Register

Equine Register is the leading provider of national identification, registration, and intelligence services to the equine industry and governments. Equine Register is Defra’s partner in delivering and managing the Central Equine Database (CED) on behalf of the UK Government and Devolved Administrations. Working closely with the equine sector, Equine Register has developed a series of bespoke digital tools that enable secure, real-time access to vital animal identification and traceability data. These tools promote compliance and good owner practices, increase animal welfare and value, and help secure the human food-chain and national borders, all whilst reducing criminal activity. Equine Register’s cutting-edge patented technology will position the UK at the forefront of animal traceability and biosecurity, playing a key role in the launch of Brand Britain following Brexit.
Palpation Diagnostics

Palpation Diagnostics develops ProstaPalp a medical device to identify and diagnosise prostate cancer faster, cheaper and less painful. It is a team of urologists and engineers working to use stiffness measurement to identify tissue type in the prostate gland. Our product could greatly reduce the number of patients who receive unnecessary biopsies, and make the diagnostic pathway more cost-effective. The technology was developed at Heriot-Watt University and the University of Edinburgh, and will soon be spun out. We are looking for seed round investment to help us to reach our next development milestone.
