Boans was founded by brothers Harry and Benjamin Boan who came to Perth from Broken Hill in New South Wales. The store opened on 7 November 1895 and was a single story structure that ran from Wellington Street through to Murray street.
Grace Bros is an Australian department store chain, founded in 1885. Grace Bros opened two small stores in suburban Sydney (in Parramatta and Bondi Junction) as early as in 1933; these stores were completely rebuilt and expanded in 1957 into the first department stores in Australia designed with the family car in mind.
