P.T.I. Limited started life in the 1960's as a specialist toolmaker supplying Birmingham's Automotive market. Always being based in Tamworth at the heart of the U.K.'s manufacturing region PTI moved to its current premises in 1985 and saw rapid expansion. Master Gears and Spline Gauge production was started in 1987 and in 1990 a fully accredited UKAS laboratory was installed. The early 90's saw P.T.I. move into the Aerospace market by offering a high accuracy service with a short lead time. Shortly after the diversification into aerospace PTI were contacted by one of the country's leading Formula 1 engine manufacturers to produce high precision timing gears. There then followed a lengthy relationship with this customer and involvement with many other teams which now sees motor sport as one of the largest areas of its business. In 2001 P.T.I. moved into the oil and gas business supplying specialist thread gauges and in 2005 gained API (American Petroleum Institute) accreditation.
