hetras is the first company to build a fully internet-based application for the global hotel industry. The hetras hotel management software combines traditional property management systems (PMS) with powerful distribution management in a unified application. As a true cloud-based product, hetras customers need nothing other than a standard internet connection and browser to use the product. hotels and hotel chains typically suffer from poor integration between property based systems, central systems and web-based systems. hetras removes these integration problems by combining these functional areas in one application – as it should be. Guest names are stored in one database instead of ten. Rate codes are managed in one place instead of twenty. Inventory is stored in one place instead of fragmented across different systems. With hetras, chain-wide guest loyalty programs are trivial to implement. You get chain-wide reporting out of the box - no complex consolidation required. The Software as a Service (SaaS) business model means that hetras customers pay a flat fee per room per month. There are no hidden charges for transactions, hosting, data storage, support, interfaces or upgrades. Backed by deep-pocketed venture capital investors in Germany and UK, hetras has built a world class management team, including Keith Gruen (co-founder of Fidelio Software), Uli Pillau (EAME director for IDeaS), Dean Jacobs (chief architect of salesforce.com) and Dick Porter (founder of STA Travel). hetras has attracted innovative customers such as citizenM, a chain of hotels based in Amsterdam. VirtenSys

Series B in 2008
VirtenSys was formed in 2005 to address a key problem in the IT industry. The IT industry today is caught between a 'rock and a hard place'. On one side IT budgets are severely constrained with analysts predicting single figure percentage growth for the foreseeable future. IT providers are expected to deliver increased value both in terms of reduced asset cost and 'Total Cost of Ownership'. This TCO factor is becoming dominated by issues like floor space, power consumption, thermal management and system maintenance costs. At the same time the workload on IT systems is increasing much faster than the budgets. More importantly however, the dynamics of the workload are also changing. Successful companies need to be more agile in responding to changing business conditions and need an IT infrastructure which can adapt equally fast. New business models are also emerging with analysts predicting that by 2010, 25% of all IT services will be supplied through utility computing models, requiring even more dynamic workload capabilities. To add to this challenge, the size of the industry, particularly with respect to the investment in software and systems, demands an evolutionary forward migration path. The industry does not tolerate 'fork lift' upgrades.
