Spring Lake Equity Partners

Spring Lake Equity Partners is a Boston-based private equity firm. We invest equity capital primarily in later-stage, technology-oriented private companies. We formed our current investment vehicle, Spring Lake Equity Partners LLC, in 2013. The principals at Spring Lake formerly constituted the private equity arm of Tudor Investment Corp., a global hedge fund, prior to spinning off in 2013 to form Spring Lake. Spring Lake is led by Managing Partners Bob Forlenza and Carmen Scarpa, who formed the predecessor group to Spring Lake in 1995. Partners Jeff Williams, Dan MacKeigan, and Jon Danielson comprise the remainder of the senior investment team, which has been investing together as a group since 2001. While at Tudor, we invested over $650 million in 75 companies across four investment funds and continue to sub-advise several of these funds today. Our investment philosophy is simple and has remained consistent over time – we seek to partner with great management teams to take their businesses to the next level, creating value for all stakeholders. Spring Lake strives to add value to our portfolio companies through active Board participation and accessing our network of contacts which includes our own and those of our key strategic partners, WestRiver Equity Partners, Tudor Investment Corp., and the George Kaiser Family Foundation.

Illusive

Series B in 2020
Illusive reduces cyber risk by shrinking the attack surface and stopping attacker movement. Illusive creates a hostile environment for attackers, depriving them of the means to progress towards critical assets after breaching the perimeter. Hackers are increasingly finding more vulnerabilities within an enterprise’s security stack, allowing them to move laterally within the network and conduct reconnaissance and exfiltration. Illusive’s Active Defense identifies and removes the vulnerable connections and credentials that enable attackers to move undetected, and then replaces them with deceptive versions that fool attackers into revealing their presence upon engagement. Unlike behavioral or anomaly-based threat detection, Illusive’s agentless approach captures deterministic proof of in-progress attacks and provides actionable forensics to empower a quick and effective response. Illusive detects Advanced Persistent Threats, targeted ransomware and malicious insiders in ways that supplement other defensive technologies, allowing security teams to beat both attackers and red teams alike. Illusive is the first company spun out of the company-building venture group Team8, which was co-founded by veterans of Israel's military intelligence division, Unit 8200. Illusive’s multinational clients include top ten organizations in the financial services sector and the top five in legal, pharmaceutical and retailer sectors.
