MacArthur Foundation
The John D. and Catherine T. MacArthur Foundation supports creative people and effective institutions committed to building a more just, verdant, and peaceful world. In addition to selecting the MacArthur Fellows, the Foundation works to defend human rights, advance global conservation and security, make cities better places, and understand how technology is affecting children and society. MacArthur is one of the nation's largest independent foundations. Through the support it provides, the Foundation fosters the development of knowledge, nurtures individual creativity, strengthens institutions, helps improve public policy, and provides information to the public, primarily through support for public interest media. The Foundation makes grants and loans through four programs.
Artificial Intelligence Accountability Lab is an independent research lab with a mission to ensure that AI technologies work for the public.
The American Council of Learned Societies (ACLS) is a foundation based in New York City, established in 1919. The Markup is a business dedicated to investigating the ways in which powerful entities utilize technology to influence societal structures. It provides a range of information services centered on technology and data privacy issues. The organization produces investigation reports, assessments of impacts, strategic blueprints, tools, and insights aimed at fostering understanding and accountability in the tech sector. By focusing on the intersection of technology and society, The Markup seeks to shed light on the implications of technological advancements and advocate for transparency and ethical practices.
The Poynter Institute is a nonprofit media organization founded in 1969, focused on promoting journalistic excellence and media literacy. It provides a range of programs and services designed for journalists, media professionals, and the general public, aiming to uphold and enhance the standards of journalism. In addition to its educational initiatives, Poynter has developed mobile applications, including Help! For Writers, compatible with iPod touch and iPhone, to support writers in their craft. Through its efforts, Poynter seeks to foster informed citizenship and enhance the quality of media in society.

At ideas42 we look at everything – including our own internal processes — through a behavioral lens. We approach our work with a spirit of generosity, but we retain a sense of playfulness that helps to drive our creativity. As individuals, we are tenacious and rigorous, and take shared responsibility for the organization’s success. Perhaps most importantly, we do good, striving every day to improve the lives of people all over the world.
