Acquisition in 2008
Barnsley Building Society, established by local residents in 1856, operated as a trading division of Yorkshire Building Society following its acquisition in 2008. It offered a range of commercial banking services to customers in Barnsley, United Kingdom, including savings accounts, mortgages, investments, financial advisory services, and insurance products. However, in 2016, the Yorkshire Building Society announced plans to replace the Barnsley brand with its own, leading to the closure of six branches and rebranding of the remaining ones under the Yorkshire name.
