The Massachusetts Pension Reserves Investment Trust (PRIT) is a public pension fund located in Boston, Massachusetts, established in 1983. Its primary objective is to accumulate investment earnings to reduce the Commonwealth's unfunded pension liability and support local retirement systems in fulfilling their future pension obligations. PRIT is mandated by law to manage the assets of the Massachusetts State Teachers', State Employees', and State-Boston/Teachers' Retirement Systems, as well as the State Retiree Benefits Fund. Additionally, other retirement systems have the option to invest voluntarily in the PRIT Fund. Through its operations, PRIT aims to maximize returns for its beneficiaries while managing investment risks effectively.
