Founded in 1981 by a group of U.S. correspondents, CPJ takes action against threats to journalists, including attacks, imprisonment, and censorship. The organization's first advocacy campaign in 1982 highlighted the plight of three British journalists arrested in Argentina during the Falklands War, demonstrating its commitment to supporting journalists in dangerous environments. CPJ also organizes the International Press Freedom Awards annually, honoring courageous reporting by journalists who have faced violence and repression. Through its efforts, CPJ ensures the free flow of news and commentary, advocating for the safety and rights of journalists worldwide.

International Consortium of Investigative Journalists (ICIJ) is a non-profit organization that brings together journalists from different countries to form cross-border investigative teams to report, edit, and produce multimedia reports. It is a global network of more than 190 investigative journalists in more than 65 countries who collaborate on in-depth investigative stories. ICIJ staff and members regularly contribute to conferences and events around the world and share the findings of investigations, along with the tools and lessons learnt along the way to help promote better understanding and best practices in collaborative journalism. The organization’s advisory committee consists of popular investigative jornalists, including Bill Kovach, Chuck Lewis, Rosental Calmon Alves, Phillip Knightley, Gwen Lister, Goenawan Mohamad, Reginald Chua, and Brant Houston. International Consortium of Investigative Journalists was founded in 1997 by Chuck Lewis and is based in Washington, D.C., United States.

Los Angeles Press Club involves the public in recognizing journalists, which encourages them. Through the sponsorship of events, the Club offers a venue for journalists to congregate, network, and learn from one another. It represents all journalists working for publications like newspapers, magazines, radio, television, and the Internet.
