ClearSpace is a space debris mitigation company spun out of EPFL in 2018 to develop sustainable in-orbit services and remove non-functional satellites. It focuses on on-orbit technologies and debris-removal services, including tracking failed satellites with sensors, radar, and a telescope to enable cleanup and longer-term sustainability of space operations. The company has been contracted by the European Space Agency to lead the first autonomous debris-removal mission, known as ClearSpace-1, showcasing its capability to capture and remove space debris from orbit.
