The company operates through several segments, including Acquisitions, Small Balance Commercial (SBC) Originations, SBA Originations, and Residential Mortgage Banking. In the Acquisitions segment, Ready Capital focuses on acquiring both performing and non-performing SBC loans. The SBC Originations segment is involved in originating loans secured by transitional or stabilized investor properties, while the SBA segment handles owner-occupied loans guaranteed by the SBA. The Residential Mortgage Banking segment originates residential mortgage loans through various channels. As a qualified real estate investment trust, Ready Capital aims to distribute at least 90% of its taxable income to shareholders to avoid federal corporate income taxes. Founded in 2007, the company was previously known as Sutherland Asset Management Corporation before rebranding in 2018.
