Finance Yorkshire is an investments company that provides seedcorn, loan and equity linked investments. At the start of 2017, Finance Yorkshire received funds from the Sheffield and Leeds City Regions to invest until the Northern Powerhouse Investment Fund (NPIF) was operational. NPIF was launched in February 2017. Finance Yorkshire has been developed as a European JEREMIE* initiative and is capitalised by grants from UK Government, European Regional Development Fund and finance from the European Investment Bank. (*JEREMIE stands for Joint European Resources for Micro to medium Enterprises) Finance Yorkshire is supported by the Regional Growth Fund (RGF). The RGF has supported eligible projects and programmes raising private sector investment to create economic growth and lasting employment. It has invested £2.7 billion to help businesses in England to grow; and is expected to create or safeguard over 557,000 jobs by the mid 2020s.
