The Australian Renewable Energy Agency (ARENA) was established on 10 July 2011 as part of the Australian Government's Clean Energy Future package. As an independent statutory authority under the Commonwealth Authorities and Companies Act 1997, ARENA aims to enhance the competitiveness of renewable energy technologies and increase the supply of renewable energy in Australia.
