Ookla
Ookla is a leading provider of mobile and broadband network intelligence, specializing in testing applications and technology. The company operates its flagship platform, Speedtest, which facilitates over 10 million tests daily, offering critical insights into the performance, quality, and accessibility of networks worldwide. Ookla's services extend to crowdsourced and controlled network testing, enabling operators, regulators, and various organizations to enhance the connected experience. The company's portfolio includes Mosaik, which focuses on data visualization and analytics for mobile coverage, and Downdetector, which provides real-time analysis of service status and outages. With headquarters in Seattle, Washington, and additional offices in Memphis, Tennessee, and Dublin, Ireland, Ookla serves as a vital resource for immediate information on network conditions and online service performance.
Downdetector.com provides real-time insight into availability of all kinds of services. It aims to track any service that its users consider vital to their everyday lives, including (but not limited to) internet providers, mobile providers, airlines, public transport and online services. Down detector was launched in 2012. It is owned and operated by Serinus42 BV and was developed from the notion that existing solutions did a poor job at informing the public. People who were affected by an outage typically turn to their provider or the media for updates, but in fact they know best if there are any issues. They will continue to drive future changes and improvements, as well as expand to other countries.
