Consumers Energy Company is a public utility based in Jackson, Michigan, serving nearly 6.8 million residents across 68 counties in the Lower Peninsula. Founded in 1886 and originally known as Consumers Power Company, the company provides both natural gas and electricity to a diverse customer base, including residential, commercial, and industrial sectors. Its operations are divided into three main segments: Electric Utility, which encompasses the generation, transmission, and distribution of electricity; Gas Utility, covering the purchase and distribution of natural gas; and Enterprises, which involves non-utility operations and investments. Consumers Energy is committed to enhancing energy efficiency and renewable energy initiatives, with plans to invest over $6 billion in Michigan over the next five years to improve environmental and customer service capabilities, as well as to expand its power generation capacity.
