Welwitchia Private School
Venture Round in 2016
The Welwitschia School for Integrated learning made its humble beginning in January 2001 as the Eduhelp Remedial School, an extension of the services of the Eduhelp Learning Centre. The initial school was a joint venture by Magda Swanepoel and Fransette Vollgraaff to assist learners with learning difficulties to improve their academic performance so as to either stay in, or return to, mainstream education. Having converted an old house in Eros into a school, The Eduhelp Remedial School initially had 11 learners in Grades 2 to 7, headed by Ms M. Swanepoel, with Ms F. Vollgraaff and C. de Barros as the first full-time teachers. Driven by their passion to provide education to learners who would otherwise not have had such opportunities, they inspired the philosophy which today still is the mission of the Welwitschia School for Integrated learning. In fulfilling its mission to afford every learner an opportunity to achieve as high a standard of education as possible, irrespective of their age, gender, ethnicity, barriers to learning, attainment and background, the Welwitschia School for Integrated Learning was registered as an independent Private Company (Section 21), in January 2009. The investment from Eos necessitates a conversion to a “for profit” company as the basis for a fully functional private school. While Welwitschia School offers mainstream Namibian Curriculum education to learners in grades 1-12, it is unique in that it specializes on overcoming barriers to learning for children with amongst others, dyslexia, ADD, ADHD, and epilepsy. Our school creates a safe and enabling environment that allows each learner to complete his or her school career and achieve as high a standard as he or she possibly can, irrespective of their particular learning barriers. With our philosophy that every child matters, we have embarked upon an ambitious journey to expand our school to accommodate 700 learners in a world-class facility that is well equipped to overcome barriers to learning and unlock the full potential of each learner. As assisted education of this nature requires significant investment, we herewith invite potential partners to make an investment that will not only secure the future of a child, but offer a reward like no other. The school recently moved to Brakwater as part of their growth plan, which includes expansion to accomodate up to 700 pupils, hostel facilities for 140 pupals and a Vocational Training Centre (VTC). The VTC will provide career path entry points for pupils from the school
