Ekona Power

Series A in 2022
Ekona Power Inc. is a Vancouver-based company focused on producing industrial-scale hydrogen through innovative renewable energy generation technology. The company utilizes methane from feedstock to convert natural gas into clean hydrogen, electrical power, and carbon dioxide. This process not only provides a low-cost solution for hydrogen production but also enables industrial hydrogen consumers and natural gas transmission and distribution companies to access clean energy for their operations. Ekona Power's approach aims to contribute to a sustainable energy future by delivering effective solutions for industrial energy needs.

Ionomr

Series A in 2022
Ionomr is pioneering and commercializing the world's most advanced ion-exchange materials. These provide an enabling platform for clean tech solutions after more than five decades of stagnation in available materials. Using our deep knowledge of scalable electrochemical systems, we enable more efficient systems that will lead to the decarbonization of the planet for future generations. To date, electrochemical applications in the clean tech realm use materials that contain toxic fluorinated chemicals (PFCs). PFCs leach into water sources and bioaccumulate for hundreds of years, having a dire impact on human health and the entire ecosystem. We are driven to replace these materials with our environmentally friendly hydrocarbon alternatives that reduce pollution at the source, and are proven to be more durable and efficient than incumbent materials. Ionomr's membranes and polymers are highly processable, which allow for simple integration into electrochemical systems. We enable optimal performance in applications for chemical & water remediation, energy storage and hydrogen. We are passionate about empowering the development of resilient and sustainable systems that will underlie the future of the renewable energy and circular chemical economies.

Solistra

Venture Round in 2020
The solistra corporation is a Solar-driven chemical processes to reduce greenhouse gas emissions from existing industrial processes. Solistra reduces greenhouse gas emissions from existing industrial operations though our solar-driven chemical process technologies. It is an early-stage cleantech start-up commercializing a solar-activated nanomaterial that is able to convert carbon dioxide and methane gas simultaneously into a suite of green chemicals and fuels. This revolutionary technology has the potential to revolutionize the way commodity chemicals are produced by making them low-impact, and carbon negative.

G4 Insights Inc.

Grant in 2019
G4 is developing and commercializing PyroCatalytic Hydrogenation process to convert lignocellulosic biomass (forestry residue and agricultural crop waste) into green hydrogen, renewable natural gas, blue hydrogen, and carbon dioxide removal (CDR) credits. The G4 PCH process can also be used in Power to Gas applications by utilizing excess renewable power to augment the production of renewable natural gas.

Enersion

Venture Round in 2018
Enersion is a researcher and developer of cooling, heating, and electricity products. They offers services that include chillers, clean energy, electricity, heating, cooling, trigeneration, green energy, and solar. The company's Tri-Generation technology converts waste heat generated during power generation into cooling. When compared to any other energy system, its use of waste heat maximizes efficiency and savings. They created and patented an adsorption chiller that uses nano-porous material to convert waste heat directly into cooling, eliminating the need for electrically powered compressors or synthetic refrigerants.

NextGrid

Venture Round in 2018
Nextgrid’s development of a multi-residential/small commercial combined heat and power (CHP) system, which uses turbine and combustion technologies, aims to achieve up to 50 per cent higher fuel efficiency than existing water heaters.

iGEN Technologies

Venture Round in 2017
iGEN Technologies focuses on the development of a small-scale combined heat and power technology for use in residential heating. It is a smart heating technology company.
