William & Flora Hewlett Foundation
The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation is an independent non-profit private foundation located in Menlo Park, California. Founded in 1966 by Hewlett-Packard co-founder William Reddington Hewlett and his wife Flora Lamson Hewlett, the foundation focuses on awarding grants to support educational and cultural institutions while advancing social and environmental initiatives. Its programs aim to reduce global poverty, mitigate climate change risks, and enhance educational opportunities for students in California. The foundation has also achieved recognition for its commitment to sustainability, being the first building in California and only the fifth in the nation to receive a Gold-level certification from the U.S. Green Building Council's LEED. The foundation's assets are managed by an executive team, with oversight provided by a board and an investment committee.
