Established in 1906, the company produces electricity from various sources, including coal, nuclear, gas, and hydro power plants. It serves approximately 400 cities and towns across Alabama, such as Anniston, Birmingham, Gadsden, Mobile, Montgomery, and Tuscaloosa, as well as rural areas. In addition to retail sales, Alabama Power supplies electricity wholesale to multiple municipally-owned electric distribution systems. The company also markets electric appliances and offers outdoor lighting services.
