Alliant Energy Corporation, founded in 1917 and headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin, is a public utility holding company that provides regulated electricity and natural gas services across the Midwest. The company operates primarily through its two subsidiaries: Interstate Power and Light Company (IPL) and Wisconsin Power and Light Company (WPL). IPL serves retail customers in Iowa and southern Minnesota, while WPL caters to customers in southern and central Wisconsin. Together, these subsidiaries supply electricity to approximately one million customers and natural gas to around 425,000 customers. In addition to utility services, Alliant Energy also invests in various businesses, including freight services via a railway, a barge terminal on the Mississippi River, and logistics solutions.
