Universities Superannuation Scheme
Universities Superannuation Scheme (USS), established in 1975, serves as the principal pension scheme for universities and higher education institutions in the UK. With over 330,000 members, including senior academic staff across nearly 400 institutions, it ranks among the largest pension schemes in the country, managing total fund assets of approximately £50 billion. The scheme is overseen by Universities Superannuation Scheme Limited, a corporate trustee based in Liverpool and London, which is responsible for its management and administration. USS Investment Management Limited, a wholly-owned subsidiary, implements the scheme's investment strategy and provides in-house investment management from its London office. The scheme operates under the regulation of the Financial Conduct Authority.
