Songas
Acquisition in 2002
Songas operates a gas-fired electricity generation project in Tanzania that uses gas from the Songo Songo Island gas fields. The facility began commercial operation in August 2004 and was expanded to its current capabilities by August 2005. With a total project cost of about US$320 million, Songas provides a clean, reliable energy source in a country that relies heavily on hydroelectric power and imported fuel oil.
