Coral Reef Capital is a New York-based private investment firm that is exclusively focused on private equity investments in the natural resources sector, including oil & gas exploration and production, metals & mining, agricultural minerals, energy and related infrastructure and services. Coral Reef takes controlling positions as well as structured minority equity investments through proprietary opportunities. Transactions include management/leveraged buyouts, corporate spin-offs and carve-outs, recapitalizations, acquisition financing, oil & gas lease development, and structured special situations and minority equity for growth. They seek to partner with experienced management teams to accelerate growth by providing access to capital and strategic and operational resources. Coral Reef professionals utilize their extensive experience in private equity, strategic consulting, corporate finance, and turnaround management to assist management teams with deal execution capabilities, strategic planning and decision making, and securing financing to capitalize companies' corporate plans. Their investors are primarily comprised of domestic U.S. and offshore family offices, private funds, institutions and high net worth individuals. This provides Coral Reef and portfolio companies greater flexibility in how investments are structured and a potentially longer investment horizon not tied to a restrictive traditional fund investment period, allowing companies sufficient time to effectuate longer term corporate plans. Coral Reef had a first close in October 2014 from institutional and family office investors for its CRC Resources Fund II LP, a natural resources private equity fund primarily focused on real asset opportunities in North America.
